Spa Towns of the Peak District

Why not take a scenic day trips to two scenic towns of the Peak District – Bakewell & Buxton

Since the days of the Romans, Buxton has attracted visitors coming to ‘take the waters’, with the town growing in popularity during the Victorian period. About an hour away from Manchester, the town is internationally known for the spring water that flows from St Ann’s Well. If you fancy something a little stronger, the local council has produced a handy real ale trail to explore some of the town’s historic drinking holes!

Beatrix Potter’s Lakes and Hills

In July 2017 the Lake District was named as a World Heritage Site, joining iconic locations such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Barrier Reef and Grand Canyon as a place of international acclaim. This scenic landscape was once home to one of Britain’s best loved writers, illustrator and conservationist, Beatrix Potter. On this route you can visit her Hill Top home in Ambleside, the World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness-On-Windermere, as well as the quaint village of Grasmere.
