Our visit this summer saw us take a canal cruise along Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Our winter trip will see the town in all its festive glory.
This festive event has been organised by a group of volunteers. Proceeds from the Festival go to charity, which this year is the Wales Air Ambulance.
The Festival begins with a parade through the town, followed by entertainment in and around the town. Why not take the chance to visit Sion Corn’s grotto? The Christmas lights will be switched on in the late afternoon. You can also take the chance to visit Sion Corn’s grotto.
In Wales, Father Christmas is often known as Siôn Corn (Chimney Jack). Traditionally he can be seen wearing a green outfit instead of the more usual red one. A long time ago Father Christmas always wore green but one day in America, where he was also known as Santa Claus, someone gave him a red suit and it became fashionable all over the world for Father Christmas to wear red. Sometimes however, he likes to wear his more traditional green outfit, especially when he visits historic places like Llangollen.
