Selwyns Travel operator awarded gold status with National Express

Selwyns Travel Coach Hire has won National Express’ top award for engineering standards for the second year running.

Engineering staff at Selwyns Travel were presented with a real gold spanner, an award for National Express’ partner operators who achieve exceptional engineering standards, by the company’s Commercial Director John Boughton.

The award is a recognition of the high standards of fleet maintenance achieved over the past twelve months by Selwyns Workshop Manager’s, Carl Cowley & Patrick Cullen and their team.

John Boughton at National Express, said: “There are only 26 engineering teams across the National Express network who hold the gold standard so this is not an easy award to win. The team at Selwyns should be incredibly proud of their hard work over the past year. I’m delighted I could deliver the spanner in person.”

National Express Routes

Selwyns have been managing National Express routes for over 20 years and currently run 15 routes on their behalf – the 550 between Liverpool and London and the 061and 060 between Liverpool and Leeds.

Selwyn Jones Managing Director added, “I’m very proud of the team here, the Golden Spanner award reflects their excellent performance during the National Express engineering audit and highlights how important we view the safety of all our passengers. Michael Branigan, our Group Engineering Manager, leads a fantastic team of specialists and awards such as this are a great incentive for both our new apprentices and long serving team members alike.”
